Vice is not the only tune on this album where I took a hackneyed chord progression and tried to do something new with it. Lyrics obliquely reference Sewer Song from Skin Tirade because when I was conceiving Vice on acoustic guitar and muttering any words at all to search out a melody some Sewer came out, and never went away. Other words in Vice happened while brainstorming in the woods in the rain with an ever-soggier notebook and far too few beers.
lyrics
The day I phoned he was too long delayed
I lost the number, pried the sewer grate
Only one sin he had an interest in
A word found etched in the skin
That overwound the mind
Unspringing down the slick
It draws you to the malign
One went for money
One went for love
I went for blood
No one sees me in the thorn
They come below
Kneel to our dark liberty
