The first vocal line with its chords was stuck in my brain for months, this big dramatic thing, before I finally recorded it, and I think it's funny that it doesn't make much of an impression – you hear things in your head differently than you do with your ears.
lyrics
You would never know, he said
What once was here
What used to be
You'll never see
Overgrown's overrated
Only an outlook can ensure your privacy
Your generation
Has no place to stay
No tale to tell
How dare you live?
I spent my days collecting shadows
Never knew what I brought home till after dark
Woke from an arid dream
In an ice cold bed
Beside my head
A paper scrap and pen
Her note said
I loved a man I made up
You loved him too
What a surprise – he showed up
My shadowdays are through.
Take an awful chance like that
Come crawling home
The one who did it right
He sold his soul
He's innocuous now
Outliving us all
